Announcing our New Payably Product Manager, Erik

Can you share a bit about your professional journey?

I graduated in computer science back in 2018, and during my time in college, I distinguished myself by working in a role directly related to my career field. Prior to graduating, I gained hands-on experience in IT and Software Development. This role allowed me to apply the theoretical knowledge I was learning in real time, giving me a unique perspective and skill set that distinguished me from my peers, who were primarily focused on coursework. My work not only enriched my academic journey but also provided a strong foundation for my career in computer science.

Are there any specific products or projects you’ve worked on in the past that you’re particularly proud of?

I used to work for an answering service for the medical field in Austin, TX. One particular project that I am particularly proud of is when I had the chance to offer a solution to transition from using a GSM modem for SMS messaging to using a cloud-based solution instead. Just imagine, we had this modem in a data center and reception wasn’t the best even with the biggest allowed antennas. What this meant is that sometimes messages were not delivered or delayed. After I implemented the solution, this was a non-existent issue. Just imagine the impact on patients and healthcare providers!

What excites you most about this new role?

What excites me the most is Payably’s focus on streamlining processes and enhancing the user experience. I used to work in the customer service industry back in the day and know just how important the user experience can be. Combining both my technical and customer service skills will allow me not to only resolve technical challenges but also ensure a positive experience for users and clients.

What’s a tool or app you can’t live without, and why?

SiriusXM is a must, those night drives are not the same without my 80s on 8.

What are your hobbies?

Rollerblading is one of my favorite hobbies! Whenever I have a chance to skip driving, I opt to go from point A to point B. Helps me stay outdoors and enjoy the added exercise. Cooking is another passion of mine, preferably spicy foods. I find it very relaxing and rewarding when experimenting new recipes. When I am not in the outdoors or in the kitchen, you will find me at the garage working on my two mini coopers, just looking for the next maintenance item or upgrade available.

Do you watch sports, if yes what are your favorite teams?

Not a big fan of sports but I’ll take any UFC/MMA or Boxing event any day of the week.

Tells us a bit about Erik Outside of Payably?

Outside of work, I consider myself a simple person who places great importance on family, values, and meaningful connections. I truly believe in the power of building strong relationships and cherishing the time spent with loved ones. Whether it’s enjoying quiet evenings with my family or catching up with friends, I find fulfillment in these personal interactions. I value authenticity, honesty, and supporting each other through life’s ups and downs. When I’m not working, I enjoy taking a step back from the hustle and bustle of everyday life to relax and recharge in the company of those who matter most. These moments remind me of what truly matters and help me maintain a balanced perspective, which I believe enhances my overall well-being and professional drive.
